Margaret Meixner on-camera: text
Since distances are very difficult to obtain in radioastronomy, we use kinematics
[to fill] in this third dimension. For example, if we see gas coming in towards us,
we have a sense that this is in the third dimension coming out of the plane of the
sky. Where as if we see gas moving away from us at a particular point, we think of it
as going into the plane of the sky.
