The Very Large Array in New Mexico operates at centimeter wavelengths and we [BIMA]
operate at millimeter wavelengths, so we're looking at a completely different
part of the spectrum. The work that we do is complementary: there are certain
kinds of observations that you can make where the longer wavelengths, the
centimeter wavelengths are important. So we use the Very Large Array for those
observations. But for a detailed study of the molecular gas, for example, the
millimeter array is what you need and that's what we use BIMA for.
