Quarks are shown by the solid red, green and white spheres; antiquarks are shown as open spheres with corresponding colors. Quark, antiquark collisions release energy in the form of photons. Upon colliding, these photons in turn spawn new matter-antimatt er particle pairs.
In this young, hot, dense universe, matter, antimatter and radiation exist in more-or-less equal amounts.
