3-D Colliding Black Holes
Horizon and Gravitational Wave Evolution
The head-on collision of two equal mass black holes has been computed in 3D
and displayed here. The horizons are shown as the green surfaces which
fall together and merge as a single larger black hole is formed. The
resulting gravitational waves are shown as a blue and yellow color map on
the two slice-planes, with a ring shaped lobe of waves emerging in full 3D.
This movie shows the same 2D, axisymmetric colliding black hole
calculation shown above, but now in full 3D.
