Single, Non-Rotating, Distorted Black Hole
Low Amplitude Disturbance: Color Mapping
We begin with the evolution of a black hole that has been disturbed slightly by the prescence of a low amplitude gravitational wave. One aspect of the gravitational
wave is shown by the white contours and another by the blue and yellow colormap.
The surface of the black hole, known as the apparent horizon, is shown as a black
ring near the center of the screen. The horizon separates light rays that are
trapped inside the black hole from those that can propagate away from it.
