Single, Non-Rotating, Distorted Black Hole
High amplitude disturbance: close-up with "height mapping"
The same simulation is shown again using a height field. The black hole
horizon suddenly grows larger as it swallows some of the gravitational
wave energy. At this point the early strong ripples of gravitational
waves give way to shallow gentle oscillations. Even this strongly
distorted black hole quickly settles down towards its final quiet state.
