Located on the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and the Geographic Modeling Systems Laboratory (GMSlab) are participating in Missississippi RiverWeb^SM Museum Consortium, a National Science Foundation-sponsored collaboration with three major Midwest Museums:

Illinois State Museum
Science Museum of Minnesota
St. Louis Science Center.

The Consortium was established in 1998 to prototype and evaluate a suite of highly interactive museum- and web-based exhibits to inspire and support informal inquiry into river basin processes.

This web site provides a glimpse of the technical and creative contributions of NCSA and the GMSlab to the first phase of the project ending March, 2003. A proposal to fund a second phase of development is in preparation.
