The CAVE represents a step to a qualitatively new environment for human interaction with computer-generated data. It is not simply a continuation of the old 2-D. Even the "3-D-ness," which you could get by stereo, is not the same as being inside of your d
ata looking out insteady of looking in. It's the difference between looking at a picture of a lake and walking around the lake with the trees all around you.
