Question:
Can I use iperf/jperf between a PC and a gateway (I can ping the gateway, but would like to be able to get the details iperf/jperf provides for the link.) If so, how do you specify the gateway IP address in jperf?

To use iperf/jperf, you are required to have access to both ends of the connection and run the tool on both machines. On one end you use the 'server' option (-s) plus whatever other options you wish, and run the utility by invoking it on the other machine pointed at your server.
