Thread-topic: Maximum number of clients per server

Is there an opinion on the maximum number of clients that can connect to a single server simultaneously without affecting reporting and performance of the server. I have a test with 30 and 65 clients connecting to the server pushing about 2 Mb/s total (very low) and the performance measurement seems very unstable. This is with iperf 1.7 on Linux running on a 2.8 GHz PC. The CPE of the PC shows the system as almost completely idle.
